Over these past few weeks, I have found myself being confronted once again with faith! I guess it is the one think God never give in, nor up on within our lives. I'm reminded of the words written in the book of Hebrews: "And without faith it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews 11.6).

Through personal study for a message series entitled "Walking By Faith or Sight" I am reminded of the journey we face when not all goes as we had hoped! The journey of the Jewish people from slavery to freedom came slow and at great cost. What should have been a brief nine month to two year route to a promised land needed to take forty years. I wonder how often our journey is lengthened due to disobedience and neglect of God in reaching the purposes and dreams he has planted within us, as a follower of Jesus Christ.

Without the guilt and the pressure to be perfect I wonder at what point God takes our seemingly quit route to success and extend it. Personally I've realized God's purposes (although often difficult to grasp) far our weight and surpass those of our limited capabilities.

I certainly wouldn't want to go back to a life of slavery (or legalism, as Paul suggested in Galatians 1.7) but I wondered how much we miss of God and his blessing as we limit ourselves with little to no faith. Current reading of Ben Witherington's "The Indelible Image" he underscores the call (and faith) of following Jesus : "To be holy is to 'put on Christ' or 'to imitate Christ' or to model and practice Christlike qualities such as faith, hope and love."
